The Biography Browse feature allows you to browse content by Topic, National/Cultural Association, Era, Gender, and Name.
To access this feature, click the “Browse” link at the top of the Britannica page. On the next page, in the left column, click the “Biography Browse” button. At the top of this page, there are two browsing options, By Subject and By Name.
If you are browsing By Subject, you can access the drop-down menus for Topic, National/Cultural Association, Era, and Gender. The Topic menu is used to narrow your inquiry to a specific field of interest. The following subjects are included in its drop-down menu:
History and Society
Philosophy and Religion
Sports and Recreation
Browsing by National/Cultural Association narrows your search to the national origin of a particular individual for the specific topic you are exploring. The Era feature limits your search inquiry by time period, and the Gender drop-down menu will further narrow your inquiry to male or female.
Browsing By Name provides an alphabetical list of all biographies. You will find a title or specified field of study in parentheses adjacent to each name.
Helpful Hint: You can also reset your search inquiry methods at any time by clicking the “Reset” button located to the right of the drop-down menus.
